Project Overview
We completed a large-scale commercial landscaping and sod installation project at Old Elm GO Station in Stouffville for Metrolinx through MRP Builders-Engineers
This major infrastructure project included extensive site grading, soil preparation, and the installation of over 50,000 square feet of premium sod across the station grounds, following our structured professional sod installation process.
Our scope also involved the restoration and installation of over 500 native plant species, including aquatic plantings within two stormwater management ponds. One of these ponds was newly constructed, requiring precise grading and contouring before aquatic and shoreline vegetation could be installed.
The project demanded coordination, accuracy, and large-scale execution — delivering a durable, environmentally integrated landscape for public transit infrastructure.

Scope of Work
1. Large-Scale Site Grading & Soil Preparation
Extensive rough and finish grading was completed across the station grounds to establish proper elevations, drainage flow, and stormwater integration. This included precision contouring of newly constructed pond areas prior to planting.
2. Parking Lot & Roadside Berm Construction
Engineered landscape berms were constructed throughout the station parking areas and along 10th Line. These berms required structural grading, soil placement, shaping, and compaction to provide visual buffering, drainage control, and long-term stability within a high-traffic public transit environment.
3. Commercial Sod Installation – 50,000+ Sq Ft
Over 50,000 square feet of premium Kentucky Bluegrass sod was installed across high-visibility transit areas. Installation included base preparation, soil amendment, rolling, and post-install stabilization to meet commercial durability standards.
4. Stormwater Pond Landscaping & Restoration
Two stormwater management ponds required precision grading and shoreline preparation. One pond was newly constructed and required shaping, stabilization, and environmental integration prior to planting.
5. Native & Aquatic Plant Installation
Over 500 native plant species were installed, including aquatic vegetation within the stormwater systems. Plant selection and placement supported erosion control, biodiversity restoration, and long-term environmental performance.
6. Final Site Stabilization & Infrastructure Integration
Final soil finishing, vegetation establishment, and stabilization were completed to align with municipal infrastructure standards and Metrolinx project specifications.
